Selecting and Installing Energy-Efficient Windows to Improve Dwelling Sustainability

open access: yesVitruvio: International Journal of Architectural Technology and Sustainability, 2017
Windows play a significant role in achieving comfort in buildings by letting in natural light, solar warmth, fresh air and permitting outdoor views. On the other hand, poor quality windows can be the source of overheating or unwanted infiltration or ...

Spirocyclic Nitroxides as Versatile Tools in Modern Natural Sciences: From Synthesis to Applications. Part I. Old and New Synthetic Approaches to Spirocyclic Nitroxyl Radicals

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Spirocyclic nitroxyl radicals (SNRs) are stable paramagnetics bearing spiro-junction at α-, β-, or γ-carbon atom of the nitroxide fragment, which is part of the heterocyclic system.

Physics of $\pi$-Meson Condensation and High Temperature Cuprate Superconductors

open access: yes, 2009
The idea of condensation of the Goldstone $\pi$-meson field in nuclear matter had been put forward a long time ago. However, it was established that the normal nuclear density is too low, it is not sufficient to condensate $\pi$-mesons. This is why the $\

A time-domain finite element model reduction method for viscoelastic linear and nonlinear systems

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
Many authors have shown that the effective design of viscoelastic systems can be conveniently carried out by using modern mathematical models to represent the frequency- and temperature-dependent behavior of viscoelastic materials.

Effective Method to Collect Indoor Floating Aerosols Using Cooling Equipment

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
If we collect aerosols containing SARS-CoV-2 with condensed water and obtain the solution, a sensing device can detect the viruses, and we can easily take prompt countermeasures.

Condensation Transitions in Nonequilibrium systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Systems driven out of equilibrium can often exhibit behaviour not seen in systems in thermal equilibrium- for example phase transitions in one-dimensional systems.

Condensate Phase Microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2014
We show that the phase of a Bose-Einstein condensate wave-function of ultra-cold atoms in an optical lattice potential in two-dimensions can be detected. The time-of-flight images, obtained in a free expansion of initially trapped atoms, are related to the initial distribution of atomic momenta but the information on the phase is lost.

Numerical Simulation of Volatile Organic Compounds during Condensation in a Vertical Tube

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
The purpose of this study is to analyze the combined heat and mass transfer through condensation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particularly alcohol (n-butanol-propanol) in the presence of non-condensable gas inside a vertical tube.
