Bioinspired Multifunctional Anti-icing Hydrogel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The recent anti-icing strategies in the state of the art mainly focused on three aspects: inhibiting ice nucleation, preventing ice propagation, and decreasing ice adhesion strength.

Galileo Search for SO2-Frost Condensation on Io's Nightside

open access: yesIcarus, 1998
Abstract New, high-quality Galileo images of Io's dayside and Jupiterlit nightside, examined for diurnal changes in violet albedo patterns and diurnal changes in hemispheric color, do not provide any evidence for significant nighttime condensation of the satellite's thin SO2atmosphere. In particular, the Galileo images do not show the major change in

How to Select Phase Change Materials for Tuning Condensation and Frosting?

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, 2022
AbstractSynthetic surfaces engineered to regulate phase transitions of matter and exercise control over its undesired accrual (liquid or solid) play a pivotal role in diverse industrial applications. Over the years, the design of repellant surfaces has transitioned from solely modifying the surface texture and chemistry to identifying novel material ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Triple condensate halo from water droplets impacting on cold surfaces

open access: yes, 2018
Understanding the dynamics in the deposition of water droplets onto solid surfaces is of importance from both fundamental and practical viewpoints. While the deposition of a water droplet onto a heated surface is extensively studied, the characteristics ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
