Optically controlled polariton condensate molecules [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2021
A condensed matter platform for analogue simulation of complex two-dimensional molecular bonding configurations, based on optically trapped exciton-polariton condensates is proposed. The stable occupation of polariton condensates in the excited states of their optically configurable potential traps permits emulation of excited atomic orbitals.

Optically Driven Rotation of Exciton–Polariton Condensates

open access: yesNano Letters, 2023
The rotational response of quantum condensed fluids is strikingly distinct from rotating classical fluids, especially notable for the excitation and ordering of quantized vortex ensembles. Although widely studied in conservative systems, the dynamics of rotating open-dissipative superfluids such as exciton-polariton condensates remain largely ...

Producing Bose-Einstein Condensates Using Optical Lattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
We relate the entropies of ensembles of atoms in optical lattices to atoms in simple traps. We then determine which ensembles of lattice-bound atoms will adiabatically transform into a Bose condensate. This shows a feasible approach to Bose condensation without evaporative cooling.

Bose-Einstein condensates in optical quasicrystal lattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2005
We analyze the physics of Bose-Einstein condensates confined in 2D quasi-periodic optical lattices, which offer an intermediate situation between ordered and disordered systems. First, we analyze the time-of-flight interference pattern that reveals quasi-periodic long-range order.

Optical Control of Couplings in Polariton Condensate Lattices [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2020
We demonstrate deterministic control of the nearest and next-nearest neighbor coupling in the unit cell of a square lattice of microcavity exciton-polariton condensates. We tune the coupling in a continuous and reversible manner by optically imprinting potential barriers of variable height, in the form of spatially localized incoherent exciton ...

Optical focusing of Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2021
We theoretically investigate the optical focusing of a rubidium Bose-Einstein condensate onto a planar surface. Our analysis uses a Gaussian variational method that includes the effects of two-body atom-atom interactions and three-body recombination losses.

Optical Bistability in Electrically Driven Polariton Condensates [PDF]

open access: yesCLEO: 2015, 2015
We observe a bistability in an electrically driven polariton condensate, which is manifested by a memory dependent threshold characteristic. The bistability is explained by a dependence of the electron-hole tunneling lifetime on the carrier density.

Expanding the toolbox for nanoparticle trapping and spectroscopy with holographic optical tweezers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We have developed a workstation based on holographic tweezers to optically trap, move and characterize metal nanoparticles. Our advanced darkfield imaging system allows us to simultaneously image and take spectra of single trapped metal nanoparticles. We
