Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

ARTIFICIAL CONDITIONS AND THE ABSORPTION OF EUROPEAN FUNDS IN THE FIELD OF AGRICULTURE IN ROMANIA [PDF]

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii Constantin Brâncuşi din Târgu Jiu : Seria Economie, 2016
We must acknowledge that the accession of the European funds represents a problem in Romania. The present article intends to present the main causes of a mediocre absorption of the European funds, the effects of this problem.

Initial condition for baryogenesis via neutrino oscillation

open access: yes, 2017
We consider a baryogenesis scenario via the oscillation of right-handed neutrinos with Majorana masses of the order of GeV, which are also responsible for neutrino masses by the seesaw mechanism.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Investigating the Dehumidification Characteristics of Turbine Stator Cascades with Parallel Channels

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Steam turbines play a vital role in the power industry. The efficiency of the steam turbine can be improved by reforming the flow structure. For the White cascade, a parallel channel which is an additional steam passage was designed to connect adjacent ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Toughening of silicon nitride ceramics through stress-induced phase transformation

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Ceramics, particularly covalently bonded ceramics, exhibit intrinsic brittleness resulting from the strong directional nature of their chemical bonds, significantly limiting their applications.

Hierarchical Bayesian Reliability Model for Wind Turbines with Small Fault Sample Sets

open access: yesZhongguo dianli, 2019
It is beneficial to improve the health management level of the full-life-cycle of wind turbines through establishing the reliability model for wind turbine and estimating its parameter accurately. As the fault sample size of new constructed wind turbines

Constrained Texture Mapping And Foldover-free Condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Texture mapping has been widely used in image processing and graphics to enhance the realism of CG scenes. However to perfectly match the feature points of a 3D model with the corresponding pixels in texture images, the parameterisation which maps a ...
