Probabilistic entailment of conditionals by conditionals
IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1994Symbolic logics that embody different theories of natural-language conditionals have been developed. One such logic is that of Ernest Adams. An Adams conditional /spl alpha/>/spl beta/ expresses the idea that the conditional probability Pr(/spl beta/|/spl alpha/) is close to one; his logic may be used to reason about such ideas.

Probabilities of Conditionals and Conditional Probabilities
The Philosophical Review, 1976Abstract In this paper, the view that probabilities of conditionals are conditional probabilities is rejected on the grounds that there is no satisfactory way of interpreting a conditional connective such that the probabilities of conditionals will equal appropriate conditional probabilities.

An approach to the partition semantics of conditional logic was given by \textit{B. Skyrms} [see: Pragmatics and empiricism (Yale Univ. Press, New Haven) (1984)]. In this paper the author investigates the role and the place of Skyrms' semantics in the development of this subject.

Protection in capability-based operating systems is comsidered. The concept of a conditional capability, which is a generalization of a conventional capability, is proposed. The conditional capability can only be exercised when certain conditions relating to the context of its use are satisfied.

Conditionals and conditional probability.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 2003The authors report 3 experiments in which participants were invited to judge the probability of statements of the form if p then q given frequency information about the cases pq, p not q, not pq, and not p not q (where not = not). Three hypotheses were compared: (a) that people equate the probability with that of the material conditional, 1 - P(p not q)

The Condition of My Conditions
2016This chapter highlights the third of six findings from the redemptive managerial behaviors research, in which managers created structured and conditional plans for reinstating terminated workers, at times looking to prevent a reoccurrence of the same behavior that had led to the original termination, but in all cases acting to protect the company in ...
