Optimizing condition numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper we study the problem of minimizing condition numbers over a compact convex subset of the cone of symmetric positive semidefinite $n\times n$ matrices. We show that the condition number is a Clarke regular strongly pseudoconvex function.

Reverse Khas'minskii condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of this paper is to present and discuss some equivalent characterizations of p-parabolicity in terms of existence of special exhaustion functions. In particular, Khas'minskii in [K] proved that if there exists a 2-superharmonic function k defined

DITKIN CONDITIONS

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 2017
AbstractThis paper is about the connection between certain Banach-algebraic properties of a commutative Banach algebra E with unit and the associated commutative Banach algebra C(X, E) of all continuous functions from a compact Hausdorff space X into E. The properties concern Ditkin's condition and bounded relative units.

Intelligent Fault Detection of Rolling Element Bearing under Variable Operating Conditions by Convolutional Neural Network using Time and Frequency Domain Signals [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی مکانیک شریف
Intelligent detection of rolling element bearing faults is a critical aspect of rotating equipment condition monitoring. Early detection of faults holds significant economic value for industrial units in terms of maintenance and planning.

The Nevai Condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study Nevai's condition that for orthogonal polynomials on the real line, $K_n(x,x_0)^2 K_n(x_0,x_0)^{-1} d\rho (x)\to\delta_{x_0}$ where $K_n$ is the CD kernel.

Coastal conditions [PDF]

open access: yesArchitectural Research Quarterly, 2011
Houses are fascinating because they seem to occupy a pivotal position in the spectrum of human construction. They are, perhaps, located right on the watershed between what is generally understood as ‘architecture’ and what is considered as just ‘building’. They allow us to probe the very definition of what architecture is perceived to be.

Enhancement of reliability in condition monitoring techniques in wind turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The majority of electrical failures in wind turbines occur in the semiconductor components (IGBTs) of converters. To increase reliability and decrease the maintenance costs associated with this component, several health-monitoring methods have been ...

Normality condition in elasticity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Strong local minimizers with surfaces of gradient discontinuity appear in variational problems when the energy density function is not rank-one convex. In this paper we show that stability of such surfaces is related to stability outside the surface via ...
