A Heterogeneous Conditional Logit Model of Choice

Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, 1988
Aggregate forecasts using McFadden's conditional logit model of discrete choice harbor the unrealistic implicit assumption of a random-utility distribution that is homogeneous across both alternatives and individuals. This article relaxes that assumption.

Panel Binary Variables and Sufficiency: Generalizing Conditional Logit

Econometrica, 2004
This paper extends the conditional logit approach (Rasch, Andersen, Chamberlain) used in panel data models of binary variables with correlated fixed effects and strictly exogenous regressors. In a two-period two-state model, necessary and sufficient conditions on the joint distribution function of the individual-and-period specific shocks are given ...

A Generalizable Formulation of Conditional Logit with Diagnostics

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1992
Abstract The conditional logit model is a multinomial logit model that permits the inclusion of choice-specific attributes. This article shows that the conditional logit model will maximize entropy given a set of attribute-value preserving constraints.

A Conditional Logit Approach to U.S. State‐to‐State Migration

Journal of Regional Science, 2001
This paper uses a conditional logit approach to study interstate migration in the United States for each of eleven years, from 1986–1987 to 1996–1997. We test substantive hypotheses regarding migration in the United States and demonstrate the richness of the conditional logit approach in studies of place‐to‐place migration.

Locational choice of AFDC recipients within California: a conditional logit analysis

Journal of Public Economics, 2004
Abstract This paper examines factors that influence migration of AFDC recipients within California. A county level conditional logit model is used to analyze the impact of cost adjusted benefits on intrastate moves during recipients’ first year of welfare participation.

CONDITIONAL AND MULTINOMIAL LOGITS AS BINARY LOGIT REGRESSIONS

Advances in Adaptive Data Analysis, 2011
For a categorical variable with several outcomes, its dependence on the predictors is usually considered in the conditional or multinomial logit models. This work considers elasticity features of the binary and categorical logits and introduces the coefficients individual by observations.
