lclogit2: An Enhanced Module to Estimate Latent Class Conditional Logit Models [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
This paper describes Stata command lclogit2, an enhanced version of lclogit (Pacifico and Yoo, 2013). Like its predecessor, lclogit2 uses the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to estimate latent class conditional logit (LCL) models. But it executes the EM algorithm's core algebraic operations in Mata, and runs considerably faster as a result.

Towards sustainable energy selection for ships in response to maritime regulation

open access: yesAsian Journal of Shipping and Logistics
Ship owners and operators are continuously seeking financially viable ways to comply with the Sulphur emission limits set out by the IMO, which calls for a reduction of sulphur content in ship fuel to less than 0.5 % in 2020.

Parental Vaccine Preferences for Their Children in China: A Discrete Choice Experiment

open access: yesVaccines, 2020
Background: Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective health investments to prevent and control communicable diseases. Improving the vaccination rate of children is important for all nations, and for China in particular since the advent of the two ...

Conditional inference and bias reduction for partial effects estimation of fixed-effects logit models

open access: yesEmpirical Economics, 2022
AbstractWe propose a multiple-step procedure to compute average partial effects (APEs) for fixed-effects static and dynamic logit models estimated by (pseudo) conditional maximum likelihood. As individual effects are eliminated by conditioning on suitable sufficient statistics, we propose evaluating the APEs at the maximum likelihood estimates for the ...

The Concavity of Conditional Maximum Likelihood Estimation for Logit Panel Data Models with Imputed Covariates

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In estimating logistic regression models, convergence of the maximization algorithm is critical; however, this may fail. Numerous bias correction methods for maximum likelihood estimates of parameters have been conducted for cases of complete data sets ...

When Politics and Models Collide: Estimating Models of Multi-Party Elections [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Theory: The spatial model of elections can better be represented by using conditional logit than by multinomial logit. The spatial model, and random utility models in general, suffer from a failure to adequately consider the substitutability of ...

Smallholder coffee farmers’ preferences for partnership scheme attributes: a case of geographical indication coffee in Semende, Indonesia

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture
Partnerships play an important role in coffee agribusiness in Indonesia. However, smallholder coffee farmers’ preferences remain understudied, which may contribute to the ineffectiveness of existing partnership schemes.

On the Equivalence of Location Choice Models: Conditional Logit, Nested Logit and Poisson [PDF]

open access: yes
It is well understood that the two most popular empirical models of location choice - conditional logit and Poisson - return identical coefficient estimates when the regressors are not individual specific.
