Conditional Diffusion Model for Urban Morphology Prediction

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Predicting urban morphology based on local attributes is an important issue in urban science research. The deep generative models represented by generative adversarial network (GAN) models have achieved impressive results in this area.

PearSAN: A Machine Learning Method for Inverse Design Using Pearson Correlated Surrogate Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning–assisted inverse design framework is introduced to overcome the curse of dimensionality in complex nanophotonic design problems. By leveraging Pearson‐correlated surrogate annealing (PearSAN) method within a generative latent space, rapid convergence toward optimal thermophotovoltaic metasurface designs is achieved, enabling precise ...

Parameter Estimation of the Three-Parameter Weibull Distribution Based on an Iterative CDF Method

open access: yesMathematics
Parameter estimation of the three-parameter Weibull distribution is an important problem in reliability analysis and statistical modeling. Random right-censored data are widely encountered in engineering practice.

Copulas in Classical Probability Sense

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2020
Copulas are simply equivalent structures to joint distribution functions. Then, we propose modified structures that depend on classical probability space and concepts with respect to copulas.

Factors Driving Battery and Solar Purchase Decision of Residents: a Behavioural Choice Experiment Using a Hybrid Discrete Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This article explores what drives households to adopt solar PV and battery systems in South East Queensland. Using hybrid discrete choice experiments, it reveals distinct adopter profiles and highlights cost, system size, and energy independence as key motivators.

Fisher's information measures and truncated normal distributions (II)

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2003
The aim of this paper is to give some properties for the Fisher information measure when a random variable \(X\) follows a truncated probability distribution.

The deployment of conditional probability distributions for death time estimation [PDF]

open access: yesForensic Science International, 2011
The temperature based algorithm known as the Nomogram Method for the determination of a 95.45% death-time interval can be combined with non-temperature based (NTB) findings in the so called Compound Method (CM). The impact of such integration on the probability yielded by the resulting interval has however neither been described nor exploited.

Mitochondrial Calcium Uniporter Drives Chemoresistance in Pancreatic Cancer via Glutathione‐Mediated Stemness Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PDAC has a poor prognosis due to chemoresistance. We revealed that MCU upregulation is associated with chemoresistance and stemness in PDAC. MCU‐mediated Ca2+ influx induced ER stress, activating the PERK‐ATF4/NRF2 axis to enhance PSAT1/SLC711 expression and glutathione synthesis, reducing ROS and maintaining stemness.

Gαi1/3 Is a Novel Regulatory Target for RANKL Signal Transduction and Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Osteoporosis, characterized by progressive bone loss and increased fracture risk, is a growing concern as the population ages. Current treatments, though advanced, remain limited, underscoring the necessity for novel therapeutic targets. Recent studies have shown that the immune system plays a key role in osteoporosis, with osteoclasts driving
