Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

Testing for time-varying properties under misspecified conditional mean and variance [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This study examines statistical performance of tests for time-varying properties under misspecified conditional mean and variance. When we test for time-varying properties of the conditional mean in the case in which data have no time-varying mean but have time-varying variance, asymptotic tests have size distortions.

Conditional Demand and Endogeneity? A Case Study of Demand for Juice Products

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 1994
The question of endogeneity of conditional expenditures, as well as prices, in conditional demand equations for justices is examined. Both conditional expenditures and prices were found to be uncorrelated with the conditional demand errors, based on Wu ...

Conditional variance and fluctuation band

open access: yesPrague Economic Papers, 1997
The exchange rate of the Czech koruna pegged to a currency basket is analyzed. The change of value of the basket is measured by its index. The central point of the analysis is how the change in the fluctuation band of the index affected volatility of the exchange rate.

Temperature‐Resilient Polymeric Memristors for Effective Deblurring in Static and Dynamic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermally stable organic memristor based on a thiadiazolobenzotriazole (TBZ) and 2,5‐Dioctyl‐3,6‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione (DPP)‐based conjugated polymer is presented, demonstrating reliable, gradual resistance switching across a wide temperature range (153–573 K).

Modelo CAPM Condicional: Um Panorama Geral

open access: yesRevista de Economia Mackenzie, 2007
Despite all the criticism, the improvement of the static CAPM, which has generated new dynamic models, provided investors with stronger guarantee through financial transactions.

Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

Experimental Design Modulates Variance in BOLD Activation: The Variance Design General Linear Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Typical fMRI studies have focused on either the mean trend in the blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) time course or functional connectivity (FC). However, other statistics of the neuroimaging data may contain important information. Despite studies showing links between the variance in the BOLD time series (BV) and age and cognitive performance, a ...

The Uncertainty of the U.S. and Japanese Interest Rates and Its Effect on Money Demand in Malaysia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management Studies, 2004
This paper examines the effect of the volatility of the U.S. and Japanese interest rates on the money demand in Malaysia. The volatility of the U.S. and Japanese interest rates measured as a conditional variance are estimated from the GARCH(1,I) model ...

Structural Breaks and Long Memory Property in Korean Won Exchange Rates: Adaptive FIGARCH Model

open access: yesEast Asian Economic Review, 2011
This paper explores the issue of structural breaks and long memory property in the conditional variance process of the Korean exchange rates. To analyze the above in detail, this paper examines the dynamics of the structural breaks and the long memory in
