A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

The electronic conductance of polypyrrole (PPy) molecular wires and emergence of Fano resonance phenomena

open access: yesIranian Journal of Physics Research, 2012
In this paper, we studied the electronic conductance of a polypyrrole polymer, which is embedded between two semi-infinite simple chains by using Green’s function technique in tight-binding approach.

The dual effect of membrane potential on sodium conductance in the giant axon of Loligo

open access: yesJournal of Physiology, 1952
This paper contains a further account of the electrical properties of the giant axon of Loligo. It deals with the 'inactivation' process which gradually reduces sodium permeability after it has undergone the initial rise associated with depolarization ...

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

KRAS and GNAS mutations in cell‐free DNA and in circulating epithelial cells in patients with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms—an observational pilot study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that KRAS and GNAS mutations are more prevalent in patients with resected intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) compared to those under clinical surveillance. GNAS mutations significantly differ between the two patient cohorts, indicating that their absence may serve as a potential biomarker to support conservative ...

Modeling and Analysis of a Radiative Thermal Memristor

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study presents a theoretical framework for a radiative thermal memristor (RTM), utilizing Tungsten-doped vanadium dioxide (WVO) as the phase-change material (PCM) and silicon carbide (SiC) in the far-field regime. The behavior of the RTM is depicted

Peculiarities of near-electrode relaxation processes in the polyethylene melt filled with graphite and carbon black

open access: yesSemiconductor Physics, Quantum Electronics & Optoelectronics, 2016
By using the oscilloscope method within the frequency range 10 to 106 Hz at the temperature 492.1 K and pressure 11.31 MPa at the output of the single-screw extruder, the dielectric properties of the composite melt – linear low-density polyethylene + 20 ...

Smaller, faster stomata: scaling of stomatal size, rate of response, and stomatal conductance

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2013
Maximum and minimum stomatal conductance, as well as stomatal size and rate of response, are known to vary widely across plant species, but the functional relationship between these static and dynamic stomatal properties is unknown. The objective of this
