The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

What is the arrhythmic substrate in viral myocarditis? Insights from clinical and animal studies

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2016
Sudden cardiac death (SCD) remains an unsolved problem in the 21st century. It is often due to rapid onset, ventricular arrhythmias caused by a number of different clinical conditions.

Anomalous differential conductance of In-Bi2Te3 contact [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
The differential conductance of In/Bi2Te3 contact under cryogenic temperature is investigated. Anomalous zero/finite bias differential conductance has been observed. The dependence of the observed anomalous differential conductance on magnetic field and temperature is studied.

Quasisteady Configurations of Conductive Intracluster Media

open access: yes, 2011
The radial distributions of temperature, density, and gas entropy among cool-core clusters tend to be quite similar, suggesting that they have entered a quasi-steady state.

Phonon localization in heat conduction

open access: yesScience Advances, 2018
Anderson localization in phonon heat conduction is observed in GaAs/AlAs superlattices with ErAs nanodots. Nondiffusive phonon thermal transport, extensively observed in nanostructures, has largely been attributed to classical size effects, ignoring the ...

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

First-Principles Study on Electron-Conduction Properties of C$_{60}$ Chains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The electron-conduction properties of fullerene chains are examined by first-principles calculations based on the density functional theory. The conductivity of the C$_{60}$ dimer is low owing to the constraint of the junction of the molecules on electron conduction, whereas the C$_{60}$ monomer exhibits a conductance of $\sim$ 1 G$_0$.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.
