These features are provided by the history, the otologic examination, and the hearing tests:I. The history may reveal a discharging ear or a previous ear infection. A feeling of fullness, as if fluid were trapped in the ear, may accompany the hearing loss, or a sudden unilateral hearing loss may follow an effort to clean out wax with a fingertip ...

Conductive Hearing Loss Following Retrolabyrinthine Surgery
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1996Conductive hearing loss can occur following neuro-otological procedures due to bony ossicular fixation resulting from viable bone dust remains. To highlight the frequency and features of the complication of conductive hearing loss following retrolabyrinthine surgery. In a review of 77 retrolabyrinthine neuro-otological procedures, 3 cases (3.9%) of ...

Gain Requirements of Conductive Hearing Losses
British Journal of Audiology, 1980Individuals with significant air-bone gap were presumed to need the gain used by sensori-neural hearing losses, plus one-fifth of the air-bone gap. The amount of operating gain used by 76 conductive and mixed hearing losses was found to closely approximate the predicted amount, but there were large individual differences.

Conductive hearing loss and speech development
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1988The central issue about conductive hearing loss and speech development is the impact of mild to moderate hearing loss that may be intermittent. Although opinions vary considerably about what this does to the ability of the child to learn, most studies support a position of concern.

Imaging conductive hearing loss
2012Learning objectives: 1. To outline the essential CT anatomy of the conductive hearing pathway 2. To review the common causes of conductive hearing loss in adults and to illustrate their radiological features on high resolution CT of the temporal bones. 3.

Effects of Conductive Hearing Loss
Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1980This paper reviews the empirical evidence implicating conductive hearing impairment as a causal agent in learning disability, language dysfunction, and central auditory problems. From this review one can conclude that there are few, if any, valid data linking conductive hearing impairment to any of these problems.

Contemporary mechanics of conductive hearing loss
Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck SurgeryThe middle ear plays a critical role for the conversion of acoustic energy to mechanical vibrations that subsequently enter the cochlea. It is middle ear impedance matching through ossicular coupling that has enabled land-dwelling vertebrates to hear soft airborne sounds.
