Light beam dynamics in materials with radially-inhomogeneous thermal conductivity

open access: yes, 2013
We study the properties of bright and vortex solitons in thermal media with nonuniform thermal conductivity and homogeneous refractive index, whereby the local modulation of the thermal conductivity strongly affects the entire refractive index ...

Thermal conductivity of carbon nanotube networks: a review

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 2019
Depending on their structure and order (individual, films, bundled, buckypapers, etc.), carbon nanotubes (CNTs) demonstrate different values of thermal conductivity, from the level of thermal insulation with the thermal conductivity of 0.1 W/mK to such ...

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

Thermal conductivity probe [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Low-mass probe accurately measures the thermal conductivity of polyurethane foam /and other thermal insulating materials/ while exposed to either hydrogen of helium permeation in temperature ranges from ambient to cryogenic. The thermal conductivity of a

A Universal Gauge for Thermal Conductivity of Silicon Nanowires With Different Cross Sectional Geometries

open access: yes, 2011
By using molecular dynamics simulations, we study thermal conductivity of silicon nanowires (SiNWs) with different cross sectional geometries. It is found that thermal conductivity decreases monotonically with the increase of surface-to-volume ratio (SVR)

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Electrochemical characterisation of 3Y-TPZ-Fe2O3 composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The influence of the addition of ferric oxide to 3Y-TZP on the conductivity and microstructure of sintered Y-stabilised tetragonal zirconia ceramics (3Y-TZP) was investigated.
