Tension–Torsion Coupling Analysis and Structural Parameter Optimization of Conductor Based on RBFNN Surrogate Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To mitigate the impact of the conductor’s inherent tension–torsion coupling effect on conductor quality during tension stringing, a method for tension–torsion analysis and structural parameter optimization of conductors is proposed based on the radial ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

OBSERVATIONS ON THE CONCEPT OF THE SOUND PLANE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE OVERALL MUSICAL STRUCTURE

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai. Musica
In this paper, we aim to define the concept of the sound plane and its relationship with the musical ensemble. We have further detailed the notion of the musical ensemble, emphasizing its formation as a gathering of multiple sound sources. Additionally,

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Risk-Based Management of Transmission Lines Enhanced With the Dynamic Thermal Rating System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper presents a risk-based management framework for transmission lines equipped with a dynamic thermal rating system. In this framework, future wind speed values required for calculating conductor temperature are forecasted using the auto ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Understanding How Ambiance Affects the Performance of Hole-Conductor-Free Perovskite Solar Cells from a Chemical Perspective

open access: yes, 2019
The development of sufficiently stable and efficient perovskite solar cells for practical applications is in great demand. Thus, a deeper understanding of the relationship between synthesis/storing conditions and cell performance is of significance ...

Problem Based Learning as a Shared Musical Journey – Group Dynamics, Communication and Creativity

open access: yesJournal of Problem Based Learning in Higher Education, 2015
The focus of this paper is how we can facilitate problem based learning (PBL) more creatively. We take a closer look upon the connection between creative processes and social communication in the PBL group including how difficulties in the social ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
