A study on the dynamic tension of galloping conductors based on energy balance method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Dynamic tension variation caused by conductor galloping is a major impact on design and stable operation of overhead transmission lines. A formula to calculate tension variation caused by the conductor galloping was presented in this paper by using the ...

CULTURAL FUSION IN LATE BRONZE AGE GOLDWORK: DIADEMS AND MOUTH‐PIECES FROM HALA SULTAN TEKKE, CYPRUS

open access: yesOxford Journal of Archaeology, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 151-179, May 2026.
Summary This study investigates recently discovered gold diadems and mouth‐pieces from seven chamber tombs and one shaft tomb at the Late Bronze Age cemetery of Hala Sultan Tekke, dating from the fifteenth to the thirteenth centuries BC. The chamber tombs, all containing multi‐generational burials, yielded a variety of ornaments, which are analysed in ...

Research on Transmission Line Vibration Based on the Dynamic Response of Strain in Straight Tower Cross Arm Structure Under Wind–Ice Loads

open access: yesEnergies
Under ice and wind loads, transmission conductors undergo varying degrees of displacement, with larger displacements potentially causing direct damage to the transmission tower–line system and posing serious safety hazards.

A note on galloping conductors

open access: yes, 1950
The results of wind tunnel tests on a series of two-dimensional models simulating circular cables with various ice formations are presented. The stability of small oscillations of a transmission line in a steady wind normal to the span is considered, and the wind tunnel results are used to calculate the behaviour of a cable with D shaped fairings.

Aerodynamic and Vibration Characteristics of Iced Power Transmission Conductors in a Nonuniform Wind Field Based on Unsteady Theory

open access: yesEnergies
To study the aerodynamic and vibration characteristics of iced conductors under the influence of wind fluctuations, a harmonic superposition method is used to simulate nonuniform wind speeds.

Impact Of Wind-Induced Vibrations On Aluminum Conductor Fatigue: A Novel Testing Approach

open access: yesVetor
In transmission lines, wind-induced vibrations, like high-frequency wind vibrations and low-frequency galloping phenomenon, can cause fatigue damage and failure, particularly in aluminum conductors, which have greater flexibility.
