Proposed Friction Damper for Galloping Conductor Waves
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1967The standing wave effects of galloping conductor motion are analyzed in terms of parameters which may be evaluated in accordance with traditional procedures for dealing with analogous steady-state and transient phenomena in elementary electrical circuits.

Numerical Analysis for Galloping of Iced Quad Bundle Conductors
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012In order to attain the purpose of anti-galloping, a simplified model for iced quad bundle conductors of three degrees of freedom in vertical, horizontal and torsional directions is established by means of the Hamilton principle, in which the effect of spacers stiffness and damping is considered.

Numerical Simulation of Galloping for Iced Quad-Bundled Conductor
Advanced Materials Research, 2014The theoretical study of galloping can effectively promote anti-galloping techniques. Cable element is utilized to imitate the bundled conductor, and beam elements are used to simulated the spacers, established galloping finite element analysis model which can consider sub-conductors wake interference.

Galloping analysis of stranded electricity conductors in skew winds
Wind and Structures, 2008When first commissioned, the 1.6 km span 275kV Severn Crossing Conductor experienced large amplitude vibrations in certain wind conditions, but without ice or rain, leading to flashover between the conductor phases. Wind tunnel tests undertaken at the time identified a major factor was the lift generated in the critical Reynolds number range in skew ...

Investigation into galloping characteristics of iced quad bundle conductors
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2014A nonlinear finite element method for galloping of iced bundle conductor transmission lines is presented. Wind tunnel tests for galloping of quad bundle conductor segments with crescent-shaped and sector-shaped ice models were carried out, and validity of the finite element method is demonstrated by the consistency of the galloping responses ...

Theoretical and Numerical Analysis of Galloping of Bundle Conductors
2011 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2011A 2 DOF model with the coupling of vertical and torsional motions is considered to study galloping of bundle conductors in this paper. By using the averaging method and the Routh-Hurwitz criteria, the motion equations are solved to discuss the stability of the trivial solution and find the influence of system parameters such as ice thickness, initial ...

Research on Numerical Simulation of Quad Bundle Conductor on Galloping
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013The models of the multi-bundled conductors are constructed by finite element method in this paper. The numerical results are given by using the 4th order Runge-Kutta method considering aerodynamic parameter of sub-conductor. The simulation results are obtained on galloping of quad bundle conductors with the different span. Thus some effective numerical
