ABSTRACT Aim To determine the clinico‐demographic profile and predictors of mortality in hospitalised children with diphtheria. Methods This retrospective cohort study included 202 children aged 5–16 years diagnosed with diphtheria per WHO criteria at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, from January 2023 to December 2024. Data on demographics, vaccination

The Oscillator Model Improvement and Galloping Parameters Analysis of Conductors [PDF]
The gallop of high voltage transmission line can lead a mass disaster to power facilities but it seems that people are not clear totally about the galloping mechanism. To make sure the safety of power grid, this paper studies deeply on the galloping oscillator model of transmission conductor and given the oscillator model which is globally expressed by

Summary A 25‐year‐old Icelandic mare diagnosed with bilateral temporohyoid‐osteoarthropathy, moderate pharyngeal instability and bilateral laryngeal paralysis was presented because of intermittent stridor and dyspnoea worsening during exercise. As a previous ceratohyoidectomy had not improved these symptoms substantially, a permanent tracheostomy was ...

Conductor Galloping Prediction on Imbalanced Datasets: SVM with Smart Sampling
Conductor galloping is the high-amplitude, low-frequency oscillation of overhead power lines due to wind. Such movements may lead to severe damages to transmission lines, and hence pose significant risks to the power system operation. In this paper, we target to design a prediction framework for conductor galloping. The difficulty comes from imbalanced

Galloping database on single and bundle conductors prediction of maximum amplitudes [PDF]
A database of 166 observations of galloping on single, twin, triple and quad bundle lines has been analyzed. The database is sufficiently detailed to define the variation of maximum amplitudes of galloping motion for single conductors in 50 to 450 m spans, and for twin and quad bundles in 200 to 450 m spans.

Response to equine cardiac adverse events during sports
Summary Cardiac adverse events and sudden death are a feared scenario for equine veterinarians, with serious consequences for animal health, riders' safety and the social licence to operate equestrian sports. The response to equine cardiac adverse events (CAEs) during sports is poorly defined.

Simulation of drag reduced conductors based on a new accurate model using finite element method
For improving the reliability of power transmission lines, it is urgent to reduce the horizontal load and wind deviation, while replacing with drag reduced conductors can achieve it without changing the original transmission line path.
