Neurite outgrowth is influenced by positive and negative signals that include the semaphorins, an important family of axonal outgrowth inhibitors. Here we report that the Rac GTPase activating protein (GAP){alpha}2-chimaerin is involved in Semaphorin 3A (

Intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) mediate not only image-forming vision like other ganglion cells, but also non-image-forming physiological responses to light such as pupil constriction and circadian photoentrainment.

III.—Notes on “Cone-In-Cone” Structure [PDF]
In Decade III. Vol. II. of the GEOLOGICAL MAGAZINE, for 1885, at page 283, an abstract of a paper on “ Cone-in-Cone ” by Mr. John Young, F.G.S., of Glasgow, was given. The author of this interesting paper has kindly presented the writer with a copy of it, to which, since it was readinGlasgow last year, has been added some additional remarks, together ...

The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

CONE AND FRUCT CONE: SECTIONS OF A CONE WITH A PLANE AND THE SURFACE OF A CONE
A cone is a geometric body in space, consisting of a circular base and one vertex. All lines connected from the points at the base of the cone to the vertex form a cone. The radius of the base of the cone is r, and the height is h. The lateral surface, the full surface, the volume of the cone, and the geometric shapes formed when cut by various planes ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Light-cones, almost light-cones and almost-complex light-cones [PDF]
We point out an unusual relationship among a variety of null geodesic congruences; (a) the generators of ordinary light-cones and (b) certain (related) shear-free but twisting congruences in Minkowski Space-time as well as (c) asymptotically shear-free null geodesic congruences that exist in the neighborhood of Penrose's Scri in Einstein or Einstein ...

Enhancing Bubble Removal in Geometry‐Optimized Electrodes
3D‐printed lattice electrodes outperform stochastic foams in alkaline water electrolysis despite 20%–25% lower surface area. Straight flow channels generate Venturi‐like bubble entrainment, suppressing gas accumulation that renders foam interiors electrochemically inactive.

Exploring Curvature Effects in Direct‐Written 3D Curved Hollow Magnetic Nanoshells
Fabricated by a hybrid FEBID/CVD method, 3D PtC/Co3Fe core–shell heterostructures with engineered curvature and shell thickness exhibit complex reversal modes with axially symmetric N'eel‐type domain walls. XMCD‐PEEM combined with full‐scale micromagnetic simulations reveal how curvature and thickness govern the domain wall energy landscape and shape ...
