Toward optimal X-ray flux utilization in breast CT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A realistic computer-simulation of a breast computed tomography (CT) system and subject is constructed. The model is used to investigate the optimal number of views for the scan given a fixed total X-ray fluence.

Use of cone beam computed tomography in periodontology

open access: yesWorld Journal of Radiology, 2014
Diagnosis of periodontal disease mainly depends on clinical signs and symptoms. However, in the case of bone destruction, radiographs are valuable diagnostic tools as an adjunct to the clinical examination. Two dimensional periapical and panoramic radiographs are routinely used for diagnosing periodontal bone levels.

Measuring Zn Transference with Precision: Insights for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A modified Hittorf method reveals how co‐salt composition affects Zn2+ transference numbers. Coupled with molecular dynamics and spectroscopy, we shows that electrolytes with high Zn transference number (tZn) suppress dendrites, enabling longer high‐rate cycling and more stable Zn‐metal anodes.

Without Contact Resistance, Proteins in Thin‐Film Solid‐State Junctions Can Be Efficient Electronic Conducting Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that contact resistance is effectively eliminated in two‐probe micropore device metal/protein/metal bioelectronic junctions. These results, using two different protein types in these junctions, show that, as ultrathin (<40 nm) films, proteins are an even more efficient electronic transport medium than previously thought, when the ...

Application of cone-beam computed tomography angiography in a uterine fibroid embolization procedure: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2018
One of the main causes of failure in uterine fibroid embolization procedures is incomplete infarction of the fibroid due to alternate vascular supply to the fibroid which was not identified by the operator.

Emergent Berry Curvature in Inversion‐Symmetric Photonic Crystals for Ultraconfined Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, nonzero Berry curvature in photonic crystals is induced by breaking unit cell inversion symmetry through spatial shifts rather than geometrical modifications. This enables the design of ultraconfined topological states with subwavelength in‐plane field confinement and out‐of‐plane field isolation.
