Residual Tillage Effects as Determined by Cone Index
Transactions of the ASAE, 1982ABSTRACT CONE index values indicated that the residual effec-tiveness of in-row subsoiling was evident for one additional year but was not detectable beyond 2 yr in a Coastal Plain soil. Recompaction of soil occurred using either no-till or moldboard tillage, with no-till resulting in a loss of 50 percent of the potential root zone compared to ...

Real-time measurement of cone index in a soil bin
Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, 1993Abstract A personal computer-based measurement and control system for a hydraulic powered penetrometer developed as an integral part of a soil bin facility is described with respect to its construction, accuracy, repeatability and versatility. The system can, for example, measure and display cone index versus depth graphically in real time or at the ...

SOIL CONE INDEX ESTIMATION FOR DIFFERENT TILLAGE SYSTEMS
ASABE/CSBE North Central Intersectional Meeting, 2006Soil cone index (CI) is a mechanical property which affects soil compaction and plant root development. In this study, data reported in the literature relating CI to tillage practices were compiled. Two different tillage practices were included and they were no-tillage and conventional tillage.

Soil Cone Index impact on aircraft ground performance
2020 IEEE 7th International Workshop on Metrology for AeroSpace (MetroAeroSpace), 2020The paper presents research conducted in order to assess the impact of soil parameters on an aircraft ground performance. It describes the Cone Index parameter widely used to characterize specific soils as well as a method of measurement using the soil penetrometer.

Remote electronic acquisition of soil cone index measurement
Journal of Terramechanics, 1981Abstract The cone penetrometer is widely used in tillage and off-road mobility research as an indicator of soil strength and density characteristics. Light-weight, manually operated units are especially useful in recording cone index determinations at remote field locations.
