Stresses and stability for the cone-cylinder shells with toroidal transition

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1998
The stresses in the cone-cylinder shells with a toroidal segment as a transition, subjected to external hydrostatic pressure, have been calculated by both analytical and finite element methods, and compared with those in cone-cylinder shells without tratisition.

Continuum Analysis for Plate-Cone Spherical Reticulated Shell

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Research, 2011
Plate-cone reticulated shell is a new type of space structures with good mechanical behavior and technical economy. In this paper, a continuum analysis method for plate-cone spherical reticulated shell which is equated to three layers thin shell is put forward.

Drugs from the peptide venoms of marine cone shells.

open access: yesAustralasian biotechnology, 1994
Australian cone shell venoms are being investigated as an exciting new source of bioactive peptides as part of a new collaborative project between the 3D Centre and AMRAD. Initial studies have already revealed a number of new and novel acting peptides amongst the hundred or so small, heavily constrained peptides present in the venom of each cone shell.

Application of Potential Theory Methods for Static Deformation Studies on Sectional Cone Shells

open access: yesStrength of Materials, 2014
Розглянуто задачу про статичне деформування складених конічних оболонок. Розв язок побудовано з використанням методів теорії потенціалу. Досліджуване тіло розглядалося як складена конструкція, до якої входить декілька конічних оболонок.

The Poison Cone Shell

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine, 1943
During the past one hundred years a few specific cases of death by the bite of a cone shell (Conus) have been published. The total list of known cases is not at all impressive and the danger from such a source may be very minor indeed, but it is present and constitutes a hazard that should not be overlooked by the shell collector in the tropics.

The van der Waals Interactions in Sphere-Shell and Cone-Shell Configurations

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2012
This work introduces two expressions for the integration of the van der Waals interactions in geometries that are relevant to determining oil solubilization in micelles and the interaction among surfactants in micelles. The first integral applies to the interaction between a sphere and a spherical shell that surrounds the sphere.
