Designing networks of freshwater and marine conservation areas accounting for cross‐realm connectivity and threat propagation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study highlights the importance of integrating cross‐realm connectivity and threat propagation when designing new or expanding existing networks of conservation areas, such as the Natura 2000 European network of protected areas. These findings emphasize the need for multirealm planning that supports species persistence, protects transitional ...

Conectividades plenas redimensionam a comunicação contemporânea [PDF]

Surveillance of ash trees under multiple threats: Integrating emerald ash borer and ash dieback dynamics with stakeholder behaviour

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 3, March 2026.
Tree‐health policies must balance identifying likely entry points and deployment of traps, targeted information campaigns and surveillance subsidies for land managers. Our unique, cross‐disciplinary approach can be applied to other pest/pathogen systems to inform tree‐health plans and how to balance resources.

Patch and Landscape Predictors of Mammal Diversity and Their Trait‐Relationships in the Largest Atlantic Forest Island in Brazil

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Urbanization and habitat fragmentation reshape mammal communities on Santa Catarina Island, one of the largest Atlantic Forest islands in Brazil. Using camera traps across protected forest patches, we show that species richness declines with urban and unvegetated matrices, while abundance increases in smaller and more isolated fragments dominated by ...

CONECTIVIDADE EM MUSEUS

open access: yes, 2018
The present research aims to conduct a study on the structural configurations of museums, more specifically their organization in networks and systems. The composition - whether of the network or of the system - is a connection exercise. The aim is to distinguish, through a bibliographical research, networks and systems, although it is not always ...

Forest structure and connectivity drive the functional recovery of seed rain

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
Local forest structure and landscape‐scale connectivity shape distinct but complementary pathways of the functional recovery of seed rain in tropical forests. Structural complexity promotes functionally diverse plant–frugivore interactions locally, while connectivity facilitates the arrival of late‐successional seeds from external sources.

The role of tropical forest fragment vegetation in maintaining arthropod diversity and spillover to adjacent sugarcane fields O papel da vegetação de fragmentos de floresta tropical na manutenção da diversidade de artrópodes e na sua disseminação para campos de cana‐de‐açúcar adjacentes

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 1, Page 82-93, February 2026.
Tree diversity increases arthropod richness and the abundance of beneficial arthropod groups within Atlantic Forest fragments. Higher insect richness in forest fragments is associated with greater richness in adjacent sugarcane fields, and both habitats share insect families, suggesting spillover.

Postural Muscle Unit Plasticity in Stroke Survivors: Altered Distribution of Gastrocnemius' Action Potentials

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
Neuromuscular adaptations are well-reported in stroke survivors. The death of motor neurons and the reinnervation of residual muscle fibers by surviving motor neurons, for example, seem to explain the increased density of muscle units after stroke. It is,
