Confidence Distribution and Distribution Estimation for Modern Statistical Inference [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This paper introduces to readers the new concept and methodology of confidence distribution and the modern-day distributional inference in statistics. This discussion should be of interest to people who would like to go into the depth of the statistical inference methodology and to utilize distribution estimators in practice.

Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancers is associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Technique for confidence interval calculating for estimating of the random value subordinated to the composition of normal and uniform distributions

open access: yesDoklady Belorusskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta informatiki i radioèlektroniki, 2019
The general case of determining of probability of hit by a given section of a random variable subordinated to the composition of normal and uniform distribution laws having arbitrary distribution centers is considered. A technique for confidence interval

Confidence distributions and hypothesis testing

open access: yesStatistical Papers
AbstractThe traditional frequentist approach to hypothesis testing has recently come under extensive debate, raising several critical concerns. Additionally, practical applications often blend the decision-theoretical framework pioneered by Neyman and Pearson with the inductive inferential process relied on the p-value, as advocated by Fisher.

Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

A stochastic process approach to false discovery control

open access: yes, 2004
This paper extends the theory of false discovery rates (FDR) pioneered by Benjamini and Hochberg [J. Roy. Statist. Soc. Ser. B 57 (1995) 289-300]. We develop a framework in which the False Discovery Proportion (FDP)--the number of false rejections ...

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

Bootstrap confidence intervals for the process capability index under half-logistic distribution [PDF]

open access: yesMaejo International Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
This study concerns the construction of bootstrap confidence intervals for theprocess capability index in the case of half-logistic distribution. The bootstrap confidence intervals applied consist of standard bootstrap confidence interval, percentile ...

Fuzzy Logic and Markov Kernels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Fuzzy logic is a way to argue with boolean predicates for which we only have a confidence value between 0 and 1 rather than a well defined truth value. It is tempting to interpret such a confidence as a probability. We use Markov kernels, parametrised probability distributions, to do just that.
