Pragmatism should Not be a Substitute for Statistical Literacy, a Commentary on Albers, Kiers, and Van Ravenzwaaij (2018)

open access: yesCollabra: Psychology, 2019
Based on the observation that frequentist confidence intervals and Bayesian credible intervals sometimes happen to have the same numerical boundaries (under very specific conditions), Albers et al.

A calculator for confidence intervals [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Physics Communications, 2002
A calculator program has been written to give confidence intervals on branching ratios for rare decay modes (or similar quantities) calculated from the number of events observed, the acceptance factor, the background estimate and the associated errors.

Robust Nonparametric Confidence Intervals for Regression‐Discontinuity Designs

open access: yes, 2014
In the regression‐discontinuity (RD) design, units are assigned to treatment based on whether their value of an observed covariate exceeds a known cutoff.

Confidence Interval for Quantile Ratio of the Dagum Distribution

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2021
Inequality measures based on ratios of quantiles are frequently applied in economic research, especially to the analysis of income distributions. In the paper, we construct a confidence interval for such measures under the Dagum distribution which has ...

Fractal dimension confidence interval estimation of epicentral distributions

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 1999
Estimates of the fractal dimension of hypocentral distributions require evaluating the range of independent variables in which fractal parameters exhibit a power law.

Locally correct confidence intervals for a binomial proportion: A new criteria for an interval estimator [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Well-recommended methods of forming `confidence intervals' for a binomial proportion give interval estimates that do not actually meet the definition of a confidence interval, in that their coverages are sometimes lower than the nominal confidence level.

Coverage-adjusted confidence intervals for a binomial proportion [PDF]

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Statistics, 41, 291-300 (2014), 2012
We consider the classic problem of interval estimation of a proportion $p$ based on binomial sampling. The "exact" Clopper-Pearson confidence interval for $p$ is known to be unnecessarily conservative. We propose coverage-adjustments of the Clopper-Pearson interval using prior and posterior distributions of $p$.

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Correlation Coefficients: Mean Bias and Confidence Interval Distortions

open access: yesJournal of Methods and Measurement in the Social Sciences, 2011
Non-zero correlation coefficients have non-normal distributions, affecting both means and standard deviations. Previous research suggests that z transformation may effectively correct mean bias for N's less than 30. In this study, simulations with small (
