Effect of Counterion and Configurational Entropy on the Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions of Ionic Surfactant and Electrolyte Mixtures

open access: yesEntropy, 2010
In order to clarify the adsorption behavior of cationic surfactants on the air/aqueous electrolyte solution surface, we derived the theoretical equation for the surface tension.

Light‐Controlled Reversible Coassembly of Hybrid Functional Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐responsive hybrid nanostructures are formed by coassembling azobenzene‐ and PAH‐functionalized nanoparticles through reversible an tunable π interactions. The system enables tunable coupling between distinct components such as gold and magnetite or carbon nanotubes, producing switchable optical and magnetic properties under light and magnetic ...

Entropy and Ordering of Hard Rods in One Dimension

open access: yesEntropy, 2008
We revisit the equilibrium properties of a classical one-dimensional system of hardcore particles in the framework provided by the multiparticle correlation expansion of the configurational entropy.

Configurational entropy approach to the kinetics of glasses

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 1997
A kinetic theory of glasses is developed using equilibrium theory as a foundation. After establishing basic criteria for glass formation and the capability of the equilibrium entropy theory to describe the equilibrium aspects of glass formation, a minimal model for the glass kinetics is proposed.

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Higher-spin light-flavor baryonic spectroscopy in AdS/QCD at finite temperature

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
Light-flavor baryon resonances in the JP=3/2+, JP=5/2+, and JP=5/2− families are investigated in a soft-wall AdS/QCD model at finite temperature, including the zero temperature limit.

Kinetic Insights into Precursor‐Assisted Soft Sphere Close Packing Revealed by In Situ GISAXS with Implications for Gas Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.
