Medium Entropy‐Enabled High Performance Cubic GeTe Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2021
The configurational entropy is an emerging descriptor in the functional materials genome. In thermoelectric materials, the configurational entropy helps tune the delicate trade‐off between carrier mobility and lattice thermal conductivity, as well as the

Statistical Physics of Structural Glasses

open access: yes, 2000
This paper gives an introduction and brief overview of some of our recent work on the equilibrium thermodynamics of glasses. We have focused onto first principle computations in simple fragile glasses, starting from the two body interatomic potential.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Isospectrality and configurational entropy as testing tools for bottom-up AdS/QCD

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
This work discusses the connection between isospectrality and configurational entropy in holographic bottom-up models. We analyze the effect of monoparametric isospectral transformation in holographic decay constants and configurational entropy for a set

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

High-Entropy Alloys (HEAs)

open access: yesMetals, 2018
High-entropy alloys (HEAs) [1,2] loosely refer to multi-principal-element solid solution alloys due to their high configurational entropy, in contrast to traditional alloys, which focus on the edge or corner of phase diagrams with one principal component[

Odd-spin glueballs, AdS/QCD and information entropy

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
Odd-spin glueballs in the dynamical AdS/QCD model are scrutinized, in the paradigm of the configurational entropy (CE). Configurational-entropic Regge trajectories, that relate the CE underlying odd-spin glueballs to their mass spectra and spin, are then

The relationship between fragility, configurational entropy and the potential energy landscape of glass forming liquids

open access: yes, 2001
Glass is a microscopically disordered, solid form of matter that results when a fluid is cooled or compressed in such a fashion that it does not crystallise.

CONFIGURATIONAL ENTROPY IN GENERALIZED LATTICE-GAS MODELS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics B, 2009
In this review, we present our recent results concerning accurate calculations of configurational entropy in generalized lattice-gas models. The calculations are based on the use of the thermodynamic integration method. Different applications (or systems) have been considered. Namely, systems in presence of (i) anisotropy, (ii) energetic heterogeneity,
