Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Confine o frontiera?

Instanton Effects in Hadron Spectroscopy in SU(2) (Lattice) Gauge Theory

open access: yes, 1997
We describe quenched spectroscopy in SU(2) gauge theory using smoothed gauge field configurations. We investigate the properties of quarks moving in instanton background field configurations, where the sizes and locations of the instantons are taken from

Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...

La «Frontera Sur». Il confine dimenticato [PDF]

open access: yesDiacronie.

Confining massless Dirac particles in two-dimensional curved space

open access: yes, 2018
Dirac particles have been notoriously difficult to confine. Implementing a curved space Dirac equation solver based on the quantum Lattice Boltzmann method, we show that curvature in a 2-D space can confine a portion of a charged, mass-less Dirac fermion

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

Tube Model for the Elasticity of Entangled Nematic Rubbers

open access: yes, 2001
Dense rubbery networks are highly entangled polymer systems, with significant topological restrictions for the mobility of neighbouring chains and crosslinks preventing the reptation constraint release. In a mean field approach, entanglements are treated

Hyperuniformity in amorphous speckle patterns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Hyperuniform structures possess the ability to confine and drive light, although their fabrication is extremely challenging. Here we demonstrate that speckle patters obtained by a superposition of randomly arranged sources of Bessel beams can be used to ...

Predicting Chronicity in Children and Adolescents With Newly Diagnosed Immune Thrombocytopenia at the Timepoint of Diagnosis Using Machine Learning‐Based Approaches

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...
