Harvesting of surface plasmon polaritons: Role of the confinement factor
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2020Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are propagating waves generated at the interface of a metal (metamaterial) and a dielectric. The intensity of SPPs often exponentially decays away from the surface, while their wavelengths can be tuned by the confinement effect. We present here a computational method based on quantum-mechanical theory to fully describe

Analytical results for the confinement factor of antiguides
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1996A dielectric waveguide with a core index lower than the cladding index can support guided modes if there is a sufficiently high gain in the core, in this letter, an analytical expression for the confinement factor (defined as the fraction of the intensity present in the core) for such antiguides is derived.

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005
In the present work, the corresponding states principle is proposed as a new approach to clarify the comparison between adsorption-desorption isotherms obtained on porous solids. The applicability of this principle at the capillary critical point in adsorption-desorption isotherms is demonstrated.

Factors that Affect the Studies in COVID-19 Confinement on University Students
2021This article aims to study the factors that affect college students due to confinement due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The pandemic has forced university students to study from home, without leaving it, with unfavorable elements and study conditions. Taking into account that it is a situation similar to teleworking, a measurement instrument similar to ...

The Confinement Factor: A Thermodynamic Parameter to Characterize Microporous Adsorbents
Adsorption, 2005Low coverage adsorption properties of n-alkanes were used to characterize microporous adsorbents. A confinement factor Z, defined as the ratio of the increase of adsorption entropy with carbon number over the increase of adsorption entropy with carbon number, correlates well with the pore size.

High Frequency Confinement Factor Modulation of Diode Lasers
International Journal of High Speed Electronics and Systems, 1997In this paper we discuss the possibility of confinement factor and dual (confinement & pumping current) modulation of laser diodes. In the initial experiment, four-terminal Fabry–Pérot lasers of ridge guide type with two additional side electrodes were tested.
