Confinement Loss of Plasma-filled Microstructure Fiber

International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meetings, 2012
Confinement loss of plasma-filled microstructure fiber was investigated. Optical guiding in the microstructure fiber would be affected by microplasmas at different electron temperatures and electron densities and microplasmas with different gas components.

Confinement loss spectral behavior in hollow-core Bragg fibers

Optics Letters, 2007
The influence of each cross-section geometric parameter on hollow-core Bragg fiber guiding properties has been numerically investigated. Fabricated fibers have been modeled, giving insight into the spectral behavior of the confinement loss. It has been verified that, by changing the amount of silica and air in the fiber cladding, it is possible to ...

RADIOACTIVITY CONFINEMENT FOR LOSS OF COOLANT ACCIDENTS IN NET

1993
This paper provides an overview of confinement pressurization for the case of Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCAs) occurring during plasma burn as well as during conditioning and baking. The radioactivity confinement strategy is outlined.

Confinement loss in adiabatic photonic crystal fiber tapers

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2006
We numerically study confinement loss in photonic crystal fiber (PCF) tapers and compare our results with previously published experimental data. Agreement between theory and experiment requires taking into account hole shrinkage during the tapering process, which we measure by using a noninvasive technique.

Modeling Path Loss in Confined Animal Feeding Operations

2008 Providence, Rhode Island, June 29 - July 2, 2008, 2008
Wireless sensor networking technology has great potential to advance monitoring of animal environments. Recent applications are very limited due to a lack in understanding of the performance of wireless sensors in large-scale, concentrated, and confined animal feeding operations.

Analysis of dispersion and confinement loss in photonic crystal fiber

2014 International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information & Communication Technology, 2014
Chromatic dispersion and confinement loss are two significant issues in the design of photonic crystal fiber. This paper presents a systematic study of these two issues for five rings hexagonal photonic crystal fiber along with its dependence on structure and material used.

Dependence Of Y-Branch Loss On Waveguide Mode Confinement

SPIE Proceedings, 1989
The losses in the bends and branches associated with Y-junctions used in interferometers in LiNbO3 have been studied as a function of the mode confinement in the arms of the interferometers. Results are presented both when the confinement is changed by varying the fabrication technique and also when the confinement is changed by varying the incident ...

Collisional loss of electrostatically confined species in a magnetic mirror

Nuclear Fusion, 1978
The basic problem of particle end-loss in a magnetic mirror field with an electrostatic confining potential is considered. The analytic treatments of Pastukhov and Chernin and Rosenbluth have been generalized to apply to any electrostatically confined species in a multi-species plasma, and the Pastukhov analysis has been extended to apply to arbitrary ...

Dependence of tokamak confinement on ELM power loss

2016

Confinement of Honeybee Colonies to Avoid Pesticide Losses

Journal of Apicultural Research, 1963
SUMMARYFour methods of confining colonies of honeybees for up to 12 hours (with and without water) were tested: (1) black or white-painted polythene sheeting, (2) wet or dry burlap (jute sacking), (3) entrance screen, (4) chipped ice over the hive entrance. Colony temperatures and reactions were nearest to normal when wet burlap or ice was used.
