Numerical investigation on effect of confining pressure on the dynamic deformation of sandstone
European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering, 2020In deep buried rock engineering, in situ stress is a significant factor affecting the mechanical response of rocks to dynamic loads. This work focuses on the effect of confining pressure on dynamic deformation of rocks.

Rock friction-effect of confining pressure, temperature, and pore pressure
pure and applied geophysics, 1978This paper reviews many of the mechanical properties of faulted and jointed rock under pressure and temperature and in the presence of water. At low effective confining pressures (below about 1 kilobar), the friction strength is quite variable and depends on the frictional resistance between gouge particles or asperities and on the dilatancy of the ...

Quasi-static pressure calculations of confined explosions
Emerging Materials Research, 2015Based on the state equation of ideal gas, thermodynamics and some laws of physical chemistry, a formula for the quasi-static pressure of a confined explosion was derived, when the chemical reactions and energy conversion of the detonation products were considered, and the expansion process of the detonation products was under constant entropy.

Impacts of confining pressure and safety thickness on water and mud inrush in weathered granite
Marine georesources & geotechnology, 2020Due to the strong disintegration and water erosion of completely weathered granite, water and mud inrush disasters are apt to take place in this zone during underwater tunnel construction.

Liquefaction of sand under low confining pressure
Journal of Ocean University of Qingdao, 2003Undrained behaviour of sand under low cell pressure was studied in static and cyclic triaxial tests. It was found that very loose sand liquefies under static loading with the relative density being a key parameter for the undrained behaviour of sand.
