[Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM): histotomography of altered dental hard tissue in pathological mouth cavity ecology].

Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie : MKG, 1998
There is no consensus regarding the aetiology of radiation-induced caries. Lesion formation is assumed to originate either from direct radiogenic damage of the hard tissue or from the indirect effects correlated with radioxerostomia. A comparative study is presented of sound teeth (group 1), teeth with documented radiation caries (group 2), teeth after

New methods applied to the microstructure analysis of Messel oil shale: confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM)

Geological Magazine, 2003
Investigations of mass movements of the Messel oil shale in Germany presumed that swell- and especially shrink-deformations of the organic-rich clay were among the factors triggering initial displacements. Within the scope of the present studies, delicate clay/organic microstructures had to be deciphered.

Multiplex Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (M-FISH) and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM) to Analyze Multispecies Oral Biofilms

2014
Multiplex fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH) constitutes a favorable microbiological method for the analysis of spatial distribution of highly variable phenotypes found in multispecies oral biofilms. The combined use of confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) produces high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) images of individual bacteria in ...

[Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) for validation of non-destructive histotomography of healthy bone tissue].

Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie : MKG, 1998
Fixation (formalin), decalcification (sections) or mechanical treatment (grinding) all bear the risk of artifacts occurring during hard-tissue histology. Because studies on the etiology of pathological changes mostly focus on subclinical lesions, artifacts can simulate early changes or even be superimposed on existing changes.

Direct examination of subgingival plaque from a diseased periodontal site using confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM).

The new microbiologica, 1997
Material taken directly from a periodontal site was investigated using immunofluorescence, acridine orange staining and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Porphyromonas gingivalis was tracked by a specific polyclonal antibody and its pronounced occurrence in inflamed as compared to non-inflamed areas was demonstrated.
