Conformational toxicity and sporadic conformational diseases
Toxicology, 2000Spontaneous, so-called 'conformational' diseases, specially of the neurodegenerative type like Alzheimer's, are linked to certain protein types which have the normal amino-acid sequence but are misfolded and accumulate due to resistance to proteolysis.

The Conformers of Hydroxyacetaldehyde
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2007Both two and eighteen dimensional quantum diffusion Monte Carlo (DMC) calculations were used to study the isomers of hydroxyacetaldehyde. A total of four unique minima, and the transition states connecting them, were located. Both two and eighteen dimensional potential energy surfaces were generated and used in the DMC runs.

Conformations and conformational processes of pelargolactam
Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, 1995AbstractPelargolactam (1‐azacyclodecan‐2‐one) was studied by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy in solution between 25 and −145°C. Equilibrium solutions of pelargolactam at 25°C consist mainly of the trans isomer together with 5–10% of the cis isomer. Solid pelargolactam consists of a mixture of cis and trans isomers, the cis form dissolving more rapidly than

This paper analyzes a model of social interaction in which individuals care about status as well as "intrinsic" utility (which refers to utility derived directly from consumption). Status is assumed to depend on public perceptions about an individual's predispositions rather than on the individual's actions.
