Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

A new cryptosystem based on an enhanced Vigenere cipher incorporating large SBoxes [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The present paper explains the development of an innovative cryptographic system designed to encrypt color images at the pixel level. This technique relies on a significant enhancement of the conventional Vigenere method, incorporating the implementation

Coordinate Confusion in Conformal Cosmology

open access: yes, 2007
A straight-forward interpretation of standard Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) cosmologies is that objects move apart due to the expansion of space, and that sufficiently distant galaxies must be receding at velocities exceeding the speed of ...

Gravitational-wave confusion background from cosmological compact binaries: Implications for future terrestrial detectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Increasing the sensitivity of a gravitational-wave (GW) detector improves our ability to measure the characteristics of detected sources. It also increases the number of weak signals that contribute to the data.

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.

What\u27s the Harm of Trademark Infringement? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
For decades, the concept of actionable trademark infringement has been expanding. Source confusion, reverse confusion, approval/affiliation confusion, initial interest confusion, post-sale confusion, endorsement confusion, and so on, all have won cases ...

A General Formulation of the Source Confusion Statistics and Application to Infrared Galaxy Surveys

open access: yes, 2003
Source confusion has been a long-standing problem in the astronomical history. In the previous formulation, sources are assumed to be distributed homogeneously on the sky. This fundamental assumption is not realistic in many applications.

Persistent Leukoencephalopathy Following H1N1 Infection Associated With a Novel MYRF Variant (p.Gly735Asp)

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mutations in myelin regulatory factor (MYRF) are linked to demyelinating disorders. We report a 38‐year‐old male who developed acute symmetric leukoencephalopathy mimicking a stroke following an influenza A virus infection. While clinical symptoms markedly improved with corticosteroids, MRI revealed persistent white matter lesions, contrasting

Spitzer 70-micron Confusion Level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Spitzer 70μm confusion measurements are presented based on ultra-deep MIPS-70μm observations of GOODS Hubble Deep Field North (HDFN). The instrument noise for the MIPS-70μm band integrates down with nearly t^(−0.5) for the low background HDF-N field. The
