CONGENITAL AFIBRINOGENEMIA

Pediatrics, 1954
A case of congenital afibrinogenemia is described. Despite the absolute incoagulability of afibrinogenemic blood, this type of hemorrhagic diathesis is not accompanied by hemarthrosis. Systematic studies of this patient's blood revealed that all other known clotting factors are present in normal concentration.

Congenital Afibrinogenemia in Goats

Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe A, 2010
Summary A case of congenital afibrinogenemia in goats is described. The animal shows severe haemorrhagic diathesis with joint bleedings. The patient's blood was absolutely incoagulable. Immunologically no fibrinogen could be demonstrated in the plasma. The other clotting factors were present in normal concentrations.

Congenital Afibrinogenemia

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1971
SummaryA case of congenital afibrinogenemia is reported. The patient is a 2 month old white female infant who presented bleeding from the umbilical stump a few days after birth. Subsequently other hemorrhagic manifestations were hematomas at the site of venipunctures. All routine plasmatic tests gave values greater than 1000 sec. The prothrombin time was

Prophylactic Cryoprecipitate in Congenital Afibrinogenemia

Clinical Pediatrics, 1988
Two siblings with congenital afibrinogenemia received prophylactic infusions of cryoprecipitate in order to prevent serious hemorrhage during early childhood. Three bags (units) of this fibrinogen-containing blood product were administered every 7-10 days for 15 months in one case and 24 months in the other.

Platelet Function in Congenital Afibrinogenemia

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1965
SummaryPlatelet functions have been studied in relation to hemostasis in two patients with congenital afibrinogenemia.Neither in the plasma nor in the aqueous platelet extracts of these patients was fibrinogen detectable by immunoelectrophoresis or with the aid of the Ouchterlony technique.

Congenital Afibrinogenemia with Successful Delivery

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1996
We experienced a case of congenital afibrinogenemia and successfully performed cesarean section with administration of fibrinogen. The patient was administered fibrinogen every week to sustain a fibrinogen level above 60 mg/ dl according to our previously reported first case.
