A novel congenital myopathy with apoptotic changes

We report on a female child with congenital myopathy with delayed developmental milestones and mental retardation. The most striking pathological finding was the presence of many condensed to fragmented myonuclei. DNA fragmentation was confirmed by the TUNEL method and supported by the ultrastructural characteristics of apoptotic nuclear changes.

[Extraocular changes in congenital aniridia].

The authors draw attention to possible extraocular changes in children with congenital aniridia. Of 31 investigated patients they were found in 5 children. Among these changes, because of its serious character, Wilms tumour holds the first place; it was found by the authors in two children.

Macular changes in congenital retinoschisis.

Modern problems in ophthalmology, 1975
Nine patients with congenital retinoschisis were examined. Two patients showed only the stellate c cystoid macular schisis without peripheral changes. Most of the affected eyes demonstrated a vision between 6/15 and 6/21. Fluorescein angiography did not reveal any macular abnormalities, even though changes were ophthalmoscopically visible.

[Congenital changes in the elbow joint].

Radio-ulnar synostosis is one of the congenital malformations of the elbow joint that can be severely disabling, especially if it is present bilaterally or there is marked hyperpronation. In the case of fixed pronation of 60 degrees or more corrective surgery is definitely indicated to reduce functional impairment.
