A case of congenital dacryocystocele. [PDF]
A 6-day-old infant presented with a deeply bluish cystic mass below the right medial canthus. She had been born healthy. Under the impression of a hemangioma brain computed tomography was conducted. As a result, a diagnosis of congenital dacryocystocele was made.

Dacryocystocele is a rare benign facial abnormality of the nasolacrimal system, which may be detected at the antenatal workup during the third trimester of pregnancy. Ultrasound is the method of choice for this examination. However, magnetic resonance imaging may also be used in selected cases.

Mini-invasive treatment of a congenital dacryocystocele by means of microdebrider marsupialization in a newborn [PDF]
Congenital dacryocystocele is a rare clinical condition, more commonly unilateral, secondary to the defective canalization of the nasolacrimal duct. In case of failure of conservative treatment, surgical marsupialization is recommended.
