Seasonal Occurrence and Diversity of Hemiuridae (Trematoda: Digenea) in Conger Eels (Conger conger) from Spain

Comparative Parasitology, 2004
Between the spring of 1999 and the spring of 2002, 196 conger eels, Conger conger, were collected from the Ria de Arousa, Galicia, Spain, and examined for hemiurid flukes. Five trematode species belonging to the family Hemiuridae were found: Hemiurus communis, Lecithochirium fusiforme, Lecithochirium rufoviride, Lecithochirium furcolabiatum, and ...

The Permeability to Gases of the Swimbladder of the Conger Eel(Conger Conger)

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 1972
The permeability properties of the silvery walls of the swimbladders of eels(Conger congerandAnguilla anguilld)have been studied. The intact swimbladder wall is very much more impermeable to carbon dioxide, oxygen and nitrogen than ordinary connective tissue.

Neuron-specific enolase and serotonin in the Merkel cells of conger-eel (Conger conger) epidermis

Histochemistry, 1986
Immunocytochemical techniques were used to investigate the distribution and co-localization of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and serotonin (5-HT) in the skin of the conger eel, Conger conger. NSE and 5-HT immunoreactivity were found in Merkel cells; these cells were also identified at the electron-microscope level by the presence of characteristic ...
