Since the Lutheran Reformation and the age of orthodoxy, congregational participation in a shared service has been a pillar of the worship tradition in the Church of Sweden. This is expressed not least in congregational singing, and leading congregational song is one way in which church musicians contributing to shaping the liturgy.
