Experimental and Numerical Study on Damage Characteristics of Web Frame Structure Under Conical Impact

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This paper investigates the dynamic performance of web frame structures under the impact of a conical hammer head. Compared with existing research on flat plates and stiffened panels, web frame structures exhibit significant differences in load-bearing ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

ALGORITHMS FOR THE RESEARCH OF STRENGTH AND STABILITY OF REINFORCED ORTHOTROPIC SHELLS

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2014
The paper describes several algorithms based on the method of parameter continuation for thin-walled orthotropic shells. The basis of the study incorporated a mathematical model that takes into account the geometric nonlinearity, lateral shifts, as well ...

The Distribution of Stress in a Sandwich Conical Shell Panel Under Combined Load

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2014
AbstractThe paper presents an analysis of the stress distribution in the open, cone-shaped, sandwich shell panel. The shell under consideration consists of two load-carrying facings and a core layer of the soft type. The facings are made of an isotropic, compressible, work-hardening material and they are geometrically and physically symmetrical, so ...

Three‐Dimensional Anomalous Hall Sensing Enabled By Spin–Orbit Torque Driven Domain Reconfiguration In Chiral Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A three‐dimensional magnetic field sensor is realized in chiral W/CoFeB/MgO multilayers, where spin–orbit torques reversibly reconfigure homochiral stripe domains. The symmetry of the torque enables offset‐free in‐plane sensing, while the reproducible domain reconfiguration extends the linear out‐of‐plane range. An anomalous Hall readout delivers large‐

Embedded Ferroelectric Nanoclusters Can Drive Polarization Reversal in a Non‐Ferroelectric Polar Film via the Proximity Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric nanoclusters create local internal fields in a normally non‐switchable polar film because of polarization mismatch at their interfaces. That field opposes polarization in the regions with larger polarization and reinforces polarization in the regions with smaller polarization.

A Game-Changer in Architecture

open access: yesChallenging Glass Conference Proceedings
A new large-format glass bending furnace has been developed to advance the current boundaries of hot glass forming for architectural applications. The new system can process glass panels up to 11.5 × 3.6 m with a maximum bending pitch of 1.2 m and radii

From Geometry to Function: Programmable Mechanical Response in 3D‐Printed Adipose‐Inspired Soft Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven design of soft cellular metamaterials is systematically investigated by combining experiments, finite element modeling, and statistical prediction. The study quantifies how unit cell geometry and material properties govern stiffness, instability, densification, and energy absorption.
