Decidability and Independence of Conjugacy Problems in Finitely Presented Monoids
There have been several attempts to extend the notion of conjugacy from groups to monoids. The aim of this paper is study the decidability and independence of conjugacy problems for three of these notions (which we will denote by $\sim_p$, $\sim_o$, and $

Partial identification with categorical data and nonignorable missing outcomes
Abstract Nonignorable missing outcomes are common in real‐world datasets and often require strong parametric assumptions to achieve identification. These assumptions can be implausible or untestable, and so we may wish to forgo them in favour of partially identified models that narrow the set of a priori possible values to an identification region.

Harada's conjecture II for the finite general linear groups and unitary groups [PDF]
K. Harada conjectured for any finite group $G$, the product of sizes of all conjugacy classes is divisible by the product of degrees of all irreducible characters. We study this conjecture when $G$ is the general linear group over a finite field. We show

Bayesian Inference for Joint Estimation Models Using Copulas to Handle Endogenous Regressors
ABSTRACT This study proposes a Bayesian approach for finite‐sample inference of the Gaussian copula endogeneity correction. Extant studies use frequentist inference, build on a priori computed estimates of marginal distributions of explanatory variables, and use bootstrapping to obtain standard errors. The proposed Bayesian approach facilitates precise

Reflection factorizations of Singer cycles [PDF]
The number of shortest factorizations into reflections for a Singer cycle in $GL_n(\mathbb{F}_q)$ is shown to be $(q^n-1)^{n-1}$. Formulas counting factorizations of any length, and counting those with reflections of fixed conjugacy classes are also ...

Classification of periodic transformations of an orientable surface of genus two
In this paper, we find all admissible topological conjugacy classes of periodic transformations of a two-dimensional surface of genus two. It is proved that there are exactly seventeen pairwise topologically non-conjugate orientation-preserving periodic ...

Simple 3‐Designs of PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) With Block Size 13
ABSTRACT This paper focuses on the investigation of simple 3‐( 2 n + 1 , 13 , λ ) designs admitting PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) as an automorphism group. Such designs arise from the orbits of 13‐element subsets under the action of PSL ( 2 , 2 n ) on the projective line X = GF ( 2 n ) ∪ { ∞ }, and any union of these orbits also forms a 3‐design.

Conjugacy classes of parabolic subalgebras in complex semi-simple lie algebras [PDF]
For a complex semi simple Lie algebra g, Richardson's dense orbit theorem gives a map between conjugacy classes of parabolic subalgebras in g and conjugacy classes of nilpotent elements.

Entropy rigidity for cusped Hitchin representations
Abstract We establish an entropy rigidity theorem for Hitchin representations of geometrically finite Fuchsian groups which generalizes a theorem of Potrie and Sambarino for Hitchin representations of closed surface groups. In the process, we introduce the class of (1,1,2)‐hypertransverse groups and show for such a group that the Hausdorff dimension of
