Multiplicity of nodal solutions for fourth order equation with clamped beam boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2020
In this paper, we study the global structure of nodal solutions of $$ \begin{cases} u''''(x)=\lambda h(x)f(u(x)), & 00$ for $|s|>0$. We show the existence of $S$-shaped component of nodal solutions for the above problem.

Two-Step Method for Assessing Similarity of Random Sets

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2021
The paper concerns a new statistical method for assessing dissimilarity of two random sets based on one realisation of each of them. The method focuses on shapes of the components of the random sets, namely on the curvature of their boundaries together ...

Sum connectedness in proximity spaces

open access: yesApplied General Topology, 2021
The notion of sum δ-connected proximity spaces which contain the category of δ-connected and locally δ-connected spaces is defined. Several characterizations of it are substantiated. Weaker forms of sum δ-connectedness are also studied.

An SVM-Based Scheme for Automatic Identification of Architectural Line Features and Cracks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This research investigates fundamental problems in object recognition in earthen heritage and addresses the possibility of an automatic crack detection method for rammed earth images. We propose and validate a straightforward support vector machine (SVM)-

Stability of a Giant Connected Component in a Complex Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We analyze the stability of the network's giant connected component under impact of adverse events, which we model through the link percolation. Specifically, we quantify the extent to which the largest connected component of a network consists of the ...

Cooperative Multi-UAV Collision Avoidance Based on a Complex Network

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
The conflict resolution problem in cooperative unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) clusters sharing a three-dimensional airspace with increasing air traffic density is very important. This paper innovatively solves this problem by employing the complex network

Object Delineation by -Connected Components [PDF]

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2008
The notion of "strength of connectedness" between pixels has been successfully used in image segmentation. We present extensions to these works, which can considerably improve the efficiency of object delineation tasks. A set of pixels is said to be a -connected component with respect to a seed pixel, when the strength of connectedness of any pixel in ...
