The Mathematics used in Connection with Physics [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1898
IT may seem ungracious for an author to reply to a review containing so many kind expressions as the one with which Prof. Ayrton has honoured my book on “Electricity and Magnetism” in your issue of November 18; nevertheless, I trust that you will permit me to make a few explanations and even corrections, if the word is permissible.

Principal and Mathematics Coaches\u27 Journey to Improve Mathematics Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
My educational career path began as an elementary school teacher, then as an assistant principal, and now as a principal. With the educational experiences that I had at each level of my career, I was certain I would be able to handle an increase in the ...

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Critical Science and Mathematics Early Childhood Education: Theorizing Reggio, Play, and Critical Pedagogy into an Actionable Cycle

open access: yesEducation Sciences, 2018
Young American children in today’s public schools live in a world in which tensions around about identity (i.e., ethnicity and race, gender continuums, language backgrounds and proficiencies, cultural values and beliefs, economic resources, schooled ...

Jordan property for non-linear algebraic groups and projective varieties

open access: yes, 2017
A century ago, Camille Jordan proved that the complex general linear group $GL_n(C)$ has the Jordan property: there is a Jordan constant $C_n$ such that every finite subgroup $H \le GL_n(C)$ has an abelian subgroup $H_1$ of index $[H : H_1] \le C_n$.

Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

Statistics on Graphs, Exponential Formula and Combinatorial Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The concern of this paper is a famous combinatorial formula known under the name "exponential formula". It occurs quite naturally in many contexts (physics, mathematics, computer science).

Pincherle's theorem in Reverse Mathematics and computability theory

open access: yes, 2020
We study the logical and computational properties of basic theorems of uncountable mathematics, in particular Pincherle's theorem, published in 1882. This theorem states that a locally bounded function is bounded on certain domains, i.e. one of the first

Teaching Python with team‐based learning: using cloud‐based notebooks for interactive coding education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to teaching Python and bioinformatics using team‐based learning and cloud‐hosted notebooks. By integrating interactive coding into biomedical education, the method improves accessibility, student engagement, and confidence—especially for those without a computing background.

Hitting minors, subdivisions, and immersions in tournaments

open access: yes, 2018
The Erd\H{o}s-P\'osa property relates parameters of covering and packing of combinatorial structures and has been mostly studied in the setting of undirected graphs.
