Development of the Connected Speech Test (CST)
Ear and Hearing, 1987This paper describes the first phase in the development of the Connected Speech Test (CST). This test of intelligibility of everyday speech has been developed primarily for use as a criterion measure in investigations of hearing aid benefit. The test consists of 48 passages of conversationally produced connected speech.

Connected speech processes in Warlpiri.
2008Connected speech processes (CSP) in Warlpiri, an indigenous language of central Australia, taken from two fluent 'dreaming' monologues are analyzed with the aim of observing the influence of language particular phonological constraints and prosody upon phonetic processes of lenition, co-articulation and selective segmental enhancement.

A speech recognition machine for connected words
ICASSP '80. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005Construction and performance of a machine for recognizing spoken connected words are described. In this machine, a new method for connected word recognition, namely inverse dynamic programming (DP) matching, is adopted. Two kinds of DP matching techniques are used in the inverse DP matching, one of which is the usual DP matching and the other is ...

Representation of vowels in connected speech based on speech perception experiments
ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005After a brief look at the perceptual characteristics of vowels and CV-syllables, a method was proposed to reduce the ambiguity of vowels in continuous speech by normalizing the co-articulation effects. The method was applied to vowels in a specific phonetic environment where great ambiguity would be likely to occur, taking as their features the first ...
