Distributed harmonic patterns of structure-function dependence orchestrate human consciousness

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
Connectome harmonic decomposition analysis reveals how neuromodulation and the network architecture of the human connectome jointly shape consciousness and distributed functional activation across scales.

Physics, Emergence, and the Connectome [PDF]

open access: yesNeuron, 2014
Experience with complex systems more primitive than the brain teaches important lessons about big data in biology. Chief among them is that physical laws, relationships among measured things that are always true, emerge out of chaos, not the other way around.

Tri‐M2MT: Multi‐modalities based effective acute bilirubin encephalopathy diagnosis through multi‐transformer using neonatal Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 434-449, April 2025.
Abstract Acute Bilirubin Encephalopathy (ABE) is a significant threat to neonates and it leads to disability and high mortality rates. Detecting and treating ABE promptly is important to prevent further complications and long‐term issues. Recent studies have explored ABE diagnosis.

Dwelling Quietly in the Rich Club: Brain Network Determinants of Slow Cortical Fluctuations

open access: yes, 2015
For more than a century, cerebral cartography has been driven by investigations of structural and morphological properties of the brain across spatial scales and the temporal/functional phenomena that emerge from these underlying features.

Quercetin Reduces Vascular Senescence and Inflammation in Symptomatic Male but Not Female Coronary Artery Disease Patients

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
In male patients undergoing CABG surgery, pretreatment with quercetin suppressed inflammaging and its associated inflammation, leading to improved endothelium‐dependent relaxation (measured ex vivo) and reducing new onset of post‐operative atrial fibrillation.

The organisation of the elderly connectome [PDF]

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2015
Investigations of the human connectome have elucidated core features of adult structural networks, particularly the crucial role of hub-regions. However, little is known regarding network organisation of the healthy elderly connectome, a crucial prelude to the systematic study of neurodegenerative disorders. Here, whole-brain probabilistic tractography

Lateral Ventricular Enlargement and Asymmetry and Myelin Content Imbalance in Individuals With Bipolar and Depressive Disorders: Clinical and Research Implications

open access: yesBipolar Disorders, Volume 27, Issue 2, Page 119-131, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The link between ventricular enlargement and asymmetry with other indices of brain structure remains underexplored in individuals with bipolar (BD) and depressive (DD) disorders. Our study compared the lateral ventricular size, ventricular asymmetry, and cortical myelin content in individuals with BD versus those with DD versus ...

Modelling the connectome of a simple spinal cord

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroinformatics, 2011
In this paper we develop a computational model of the anatomy of a spinal cord. We address a long-standing ambition of neuroscience to understand the structure-function problem by modelling the complete spinal cord connectome map in the two-day old ...

Comparing intertemporal decision‐making models: Predictions and applications in lifespan through subjective time perception

open access: yesBritish Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Intertemporal decision‐making is essential in daily life, requiring individuals to evaluate the value of investments over time. This study aimed to assess how well intertemporal choice models explain and predict decision‐making behaviours, focusing on subjective time perception across the lifespan.

Simple connectome inference from partial correlation statistics in calcium imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, we propose a simple yet effective solution to the problem of connectome inference in calcium imaging data. The proposed algorithm consists of two steps. First, processing the raw signals to detect neural peak activities.
