Recursive Training of 2D-3D Convolutional Networks for Neuronal Boundary Detection

open access: yes, 2015
Efforts to automate the reconstruction of neural circuits from 3D electron microscopic (EM) brain images are critical for the field of connectomics. An important computation for reconstruction is the detection of neuronal boundaries.

Structural Connectivity Disruption and Structural–Functional Decoupling in Working Memory Networks Across Pre‐Dialysis and Maintenance Hemodialysis End‐Stage Renal Disease Patients

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study examined structural connectivity (SC) and structural–functional coupling (SFC) within working memory (WM) networks in end‐stage renal disease. Pre‐dialysis patients showed disrupted frontoparietal connectivity and reduced coupling, associated with higher urea, lower sodium, and impaired WM performance.

The expert's knowledge combined with AI outperforms AI alone in seizure onset zone localization using resting state fMRI

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
We evaluated whether integration of expert guidance on seizure onset zone (SOZ) identification from resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) connectomics combined with deep learning (DL) techniques enhances the SOZ delineation in patients with refractory ...

Quantitative neuroanatomy for connectomics in Drosophila

open access: yeseLife, 2016
Neuronal circuit mapping using electron microscopy demands laborious proofreading or reconciliation of multiple independent reconstructions. Here, we describe new methods to apply quantitative arbor and network context to iteratively proofread and ...
