Families of consensus algorithms
2006Three main parameters characterize the efficiency of algorithms that solve the Consensus Problem. The ratio between the total number of processors and the maximum number of faulty processors (n and t, respectively), the number of rounds, and the size of any single message. Lower bounds exist for each one of the three.

A Robust Consensus Seeking Algorithm
IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies, 2019In this paper we propose a new robust consensus algorithm based on the introduction of a nonlinear transformation selected according to the methodology of robust statistics. Compared to the standard linear consensus scheme, the proposed algorithm provides significant improvements from the point of view of noise influence on the limit state value at ...

A review on consensus algorithm of blockchain
2017 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC), 2017Blockchain is the basic technology of bitcoin. With the value appreciation and stable operation of bitcoin, blockchain is attracting more and more attention in many areas. Blockchain has the characteristics of decentralization, stability, security, and non-modifiability. It has the potential to change the network architecture.

Distribution of Consensus in a Broadcasting-based Consensus-forming Algorithm
ACM SIGMETRICS Performance Evaluation Review, 2021The consensus achieved in the consensus-forming algorithm is not generally a constant but rather a random variable, even if the initial opinions are the same. In the present paper, we investigate the statistical properties of the consensus in a broadcasting-based consensus-forming algorithm.

A consensus structure inference algorithm
Proceedings. 1991 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2002The notion of consensus structure, a special form of random graph, is formally defined. The consensus structure represents an extended higher-order representation of the random n-tuple for statistical and structural pattern recognition. An algorithm inferring the consensus structure from a random n-tuple is designed based on the detection of ...

A Parallel Consensus Clustering Algorithm
2015Consensus clustering is a stability-based algorithm with a prediction power far better than other internal measures. Unfortunately, this method is reported to be slow in terms of time and hard to scalability. We presented here consensus clustering algorithm optimized for multi-core processors.

Cutoff Bounds for Consensus Algorithms
2017Consensus algorithms are fundamental building blocks for fault-tolerant distributed systems and their correctness is critical. However, there are currently no fully-automated methods for their verification. The main difficulty is that the algorithms are parameterized: they should work for any given number of processes. We provide an expressive language

Consensus algorithms with state-dependent weights
2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014We provide an analysis of a consensus-type algorithm with weights dependent only on the received data. Differently from previous approaches that require a global knowledge of the network, we consider general weights inferred only from local data which can be modified by local functions on each node.

A randomized algorithm for distributed consensus
Proceedings Seventeenth IEEE Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (Cat. No.98CB36281), 2002We describe a randomized, fully distributed algorithm for distributed consensus and evaluate its performance assuming probabilistically bounded message delay. Each node randomly contacts a few other nodes and incorporates their values into its own value. All the nodes are able to reach consensus in this manner after a few rounds.

A Consensus-Based Algorithm for Truck Platooning
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2017The platooning of trucks can be considered to be a potential approach to mitigate some of the negative effects that trucking can have on traffic streams. This paper proposes a cooperative distributed approach for forming/modifying platoons of trucks based on consensus algorithms.
