Blockchain Consensus: An Overview of Alternative Protocols

open access: yesSymmetry, 2021
Blockchain networks are based on cryptographic notions that include asymmetric-key encryption, hash functions and consensus protocols. Despite their popularity, mainstream protocols, such as Proof of Work or Proof of Stake still have drawbacks.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Weighted Consensus Problem for Multiagent Systems with Edge- and Node-Weighted Directed Graphs

open access: yesComplexity, 2019
In this paper, the concept of consensus is generalized to weighted consensus, by which the conventional consensus, the bipartite consensus, and the cluster consensus problems can be unified in the proposed weighted consensus frame. The dynamics of agents

Consensus of Julia Sets of Potts Models on Diamond-Like Hierarchical Lattice

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The limit sets of zeros of the partition function for $\lambda $ -state Potts models on diamond-like hierarchical lattice are the Julia sets of functions in a family of rational functions. In this paper, the consensus problem of Julia sets generated by

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Finite-Time Consensus of Heterogeneous Multi-Agent Systems Without Velocity Measurements and With Disturbances via Integral Sliding Mode Control

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, the finite-time consensus protocols are designed to solve the problems of unmeasured velocity and disturbances in heterogeneous multi-agent systems, in which the communications among agents are described by a directed graph.

Consensus: Motor cortex plasticity protocols

open access: yesBrain Stimulation, 2008
Noninvasive transcranial stimulation is being increasingly used by clinicians and neuroscientists to alter deliberately the status of the human brain. Important applications are the induction of virtual lesions (for example, transient dysfunction) to identify the importance of the stimulated brain network for a certain sensorimotor or cognitive task ...

Patterns of communication in consensus protocols [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the third annual ACM symposium on Principles of distributed computing - PODC '84, 1984
This paper presents a taxonomy of consensus problems, based on their safeness and liveness properties, and then explores the relationships among the different problems in the taxonomy. Each problem is characterized by the communication patterns of protocols solving it.
