Symmetry and species segregation in diffusion-limited pair annihilation
We consider a system of q diffusing particle species A_1,A_2,...,A_q that are all equivalent under a symmetry operation. Pairs of particles may annihilate according to A_i + A_j -> 0 with reaction rates k_{ij} that respect the symmetry, and without self ...

The spatial level of analysis affects the patterns of forest ecosystem services supply and their relationships [PDF]
The implementation of the Ecosystem Services (ES) framework (including supply and demand) should be based on accurate spatial assessments to make it useful for land planning or environmental management.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Comparative Analyses and Phylogenetic Dependence in Traits and Trends of the Dipterocarpaceae
The role of trait evolution in shaping the functional and ecological diversity of tropical forests remains poorly understood. Analyses of trait variation as a function of evolutionary history and environmental variables should reveal the drivers of ...

A survey of the ichthyofauna in the Noetsie Estuary, Western Cape Province, South Africa
The fish assemblage in the Noetsie Estuary, a temporarily open and closed estuary on the southern coast of South Africa, was sampled using multiple gears. A total of 12 species from 8 families were recorded.

Community dynamics of insular biotas in space and time [PDF]
The various features determining species distributions remain enigmatic in ecology. This thesis deals with the spatial and temporal dynamics of land birds on the islands of the Dahlak archipelago, the Red Sea, and of mammals, birds and reptiles among the

Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Seed classification with random forest models
Premise To improve forest conservation monitoring, we developed a protocol to automatically count and identify the seeds of plant species with minimal resource requirements, making the process more efficient and less dependent on human operators. Methods
