Multiple cis‐regulatory elements collaborate to control mdka expression in telencephalic neural stem cells of adult zebrafish during constitutive and regenerative neurogenesis

midkine‐a (mdka), a pan‐injury response gene in vertebrates, is precisely regulated in the zebrafish telencephalon by a modular cis‐regulatory architecture. This control ensures proper expression during development, adult brain homeostasis, and regeneration.

Comparative endocranial anatomy in the crocodylians Leidyosuchus canadensis and Stangerochampsa mccabei from the upper Cretaceous of Alberta, Canada

Leidyosuchus canadensis and Stangerochampsa mccabei share endocranial features such as posterior projection of a neurovascular canal in the maxilla and a paratympanic sinus system most similar to those of small‐bodied and young extant crocodylians, suggesting that these pedomorphic features may reflect the ancestral crocodylian condition.

A PLETHORA3/7 transcription factor shapes cucumber shoot architecture

Summary PLETHORA transcription factors (PLTs) are master regulators of plant development. Loss of shoot meristematic PLTs leads to reduced phyllotactic regularity and robustness in Arabidopsis and increased inflorescence branching in tomato. Whether these factors have similar functions in other species is not known.
